There is an 7,500 square mile (that’s right “square mile”) island of pumice floating in the South Pacific.  A Royal New Zealand Air Force Orion on maritime patrol found it floating freely up and down with the waves.  This island of pumice is six times larger than the State of Rhode Island in the United States.  Readers of my science fiction thriller, Falling Star, know about Orion airplanes which figure prominently in the discovery of mysterious objects buried deep in the ocean bottom.  There are many strange things in the World’s oceans and the Lockheed Orion apparently will find all of them, real and fictional.
