Lawrence Wilkerson is a retired military officer who fought for our country, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, a visiting professor at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, a white man, and a long-time member of the Republican Party. He has something to tell you.
The only way the GOP will realize that they betting against the tide of history is to lose this and all elections big time, until they realize that the Party of Abraham Lincoln should not discriminate.
VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6 AND TELL THE REPUBLICANS THAT IT IS NOT CORRECT TO CATEGORIZE PEOPLE ON COLOR ALONE.
How is it that Republicans categorize people by color? Is it not affirmative action policies by Democrats that differentiate people based on physical superficialities? Republicans by-and-large follow the desire of our fellow Republican Martin Luther King Jr. in wanting people to be “judged on the content of their character”. Republicans have long been on the right side of history, the side of freedom.
Your comment is well taken. The GOP as an entity is not the problem. The problem resides in the people that the Party has attracted into its fold in the last thirty years. For the GOP to survive, it has to make sure that it retrieves its essential soul, the one incidentally that I believed in until the haters started taking over the Party’s core starting in the 1980s.

I’m a member of the GOP too, and I emphatically disagree with Col. Lawrence Wilkinson’s opinion. In 2008, Republicans knew that a Democrat was likely to win the presidency regardless of who their nominee was. A majority of the GOP were rooting for Obama against Hilary Clinton during the 2008 Democratic primaries because we believed him the lesser of two evils. We learned he was simply the lesser-known of the two evils. Our opposition now is entirely based on the lack of his character and his policy positions. The element within our party that is basing it solely on his race are probably comparable in number for those who are voting for him solely on his race as well.
The internet is the great equalizer in free speech, and the conservative blacks are now given a voice and a platform previously denied to them by the mainstream outlets. The signal will get out that the Republican Party has a large tent and welcomes all who value freedom. Those that realize that individual liberty is best achieved and maintained through personal responsibility.
Thank you for the opportunity to opine.
