Dear Tea Party Member of Congress:
Each Member of Congress must take the following Oath of Office:
I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
What part of defending the Constitution (and us by derivation) against all enemies foreign and domestic did you not understand?
You are supposed to defend us against domestic enemies, not be them.
What is this, Opposite Day?
MY SIMPLE PROPOSAL FOR SOLVING THE FISCAL CLIFF DILEMMA:
Increase the tax rate of any taxpayer making over $40o,000, but decrease the tax rate on dividends received by those taxpayers from corporations that can demonstrate domestic job growth over the relevant tax year. The percentage decrease of the tax rate on dividends would be proportionate to the number of domestic jobs actually created or returned to the United States by the corporation.
Unlike the Plutocracies of Old Europe, that you want so much to emulate, the Middle Class of America is the sea from which One Percenters of the Future arise. Just think about that as you contemplate screwing them on the altars of the aging Oligarchs for whom you owe allegiance. Do you really want to give up your Party’s future on these shores for the likes of Donald Trump, Sheldon Adelson, and the Koch Brothers?
