A Road Less Traveled

Remember that bad report card?  You never had one?  Well I did.  So did John, who was told at age fifteen that he was such a disgrace at the subject that he was then studying, that it would be a waste of time on his part to continue or for any teacher to teach him.  You see, he wanted to engage biology on his own terms.

Now fast-forward sixty-three years and schoolboy John is now Sir John Gurdon and a Nobel Laureate in Physiology/Medicine.

Sir John Gurdon, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine this week, revealed that his school science report began with the word 'disastrous' and went downhill from there
