As I understand it, the enormous mass of the planet Jupiter serves as a space vacuum intercepting asteroids or other extraplanetary objects that might threaten the inner planets, like – us.  Amateur astronomer George Hall captured one such event just one day ago.  Thanks, Jupe for taking one for the team.
