Consider this cautionary tale from Mike Boone, a bartender in Washington, D.C., who volunteered to walk a female patron home through a dangerous part of the city. Along the way, the two were accosted by a bad guy who wanted the woman’s purse. Mike did the right thing and tried to fight off the thief. His reward was to received multiple stab wounds that landed him in a hospital and saddled him with a huge medical bill.
Mike doesn’t have healthcare insurance and was left with a massive amount to pay. People responded with as much as they could, but it is still not enough to pay off his medical expenses.
Under Mitt Romney’s view of the world, that is too bad. After all, we did take you to the emergency room, what more do you want.
TELL MITT ROMNEY THAT IT ISN’T RIGHT TO SADDLE A HERO LIKE MIKE BOONE WITH AN ENORMOUS MEDICAL BILL FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING. PLEASE GET OUT THE VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6.
